Candy Buffets 101

Creating a candy buffet is a sweet way to make your next event unique and special!  From weddings to birthday parties, a well done candy buffet can add an irresistible dimension to any event.  But just like planning an event, there are endless variables that make building candy buffets a challenge.  Here at Candy Galaxy, our experts are gurus of all things candy related, so here are some tips to make your candy buffet a success!

Presentation

The most important thing to remember while planning a candy buffet is to keep the theme of your event in mind.  For instance, a candy buffet at a wedding reception should correspond with the color theme that the bride has chosen.  Taking advantage of the color palate used for the event not only enhances visual appearance, but adds cohesion to the entire party.

Fortunately, "candy by color" makes it easy for you to find all the treats needed to make your candy buffet a visual success!  Instead of brainstorming for candies that visually coordinate, "candy by color" allows you to order your favorite candies in the color that you desire.  Whether you're searching for white-coated M&M's or blue gummy bears, the galaxy's the limit for coordinating your candy by color!  Don't forget that there are different shades and hues that can bring a striking elegance and energy to the table.

Aside from the candy itself, creating depth and accents in your presentation largely depends on the containers you decide to use.  Placing candy in a woven basket gives a different vibe from candy in a glass vase, and the type of container you use will also determine the serving utensils your guests will use to get the candy.  Remember that the candy itself is the centerpiece of the candy buffet, so be sure to use containers that not only showcase the candy, but blend well with the overall theme of the party.

Candy Specifics

The most common question we receive is, "How much candy do I need for my candy buffet?"  A good rule of thumb is to purchase 1/2 cup (4 oz) of candy per person.  This is the perfect standard to ensure you have enough candy for your guests but don't get stucdk with leftovers.  However, if you want to purchase large bulks for a grand display, consider providing goodie bags so your gusts can take home some candy!

"How many types of candy should I get?"  While the amount of candy you buy for the candy buffet is ultimately up to you, 8-12 different types of candy provides an assortment with enough variety but doesn't overwhelm the table.

Creative Ideas

Aside from ordering candy by color or candy in bulks, displaying "creative candy" is a great way to wow your guests.

For instance, floral lollipops can be used to create an edible, decorative bouquet.  Other ways you can be creative include choosing candy by texture such as gummies, skewering marshmallows to imitate kabobs, personalized candy containers for your guests, and much more!

The Wrap-Up

Ultimately, it's important to remember to have fun while assembling (and eating) your candy buffet!  Don't be afraid to be creative, as personalization and details are what bring the buffet to life.  Just be certain to keep the theme of your party, our "candy specifics," and creative ideas in mind as you plan your candy buffet, and we guarantee that your guests will enjoy their sweet treats!
